Celebrate is One In A Million’s very own magazine expertly produced by our own staff with contributions from the students and children in our community. Celebrate provides readers with wonderfully exciting good news stories from across our organisation, which includes charity/community, school and fundraising. Since our last magazine the children and young people we serve have enjoyed many fabulous experiences that we know will, once again, warm your heart.

Magazine introduction from Wayne Jacobs, Co-Founder/CEO:
As we step into this new decade, I cannot help but reflect on the journey of our organisation and its work. In May of this year it will be 15 years since Matt Band and I sat down together to discuss and plan the structure of One In A Million.
We had hopes to make a difference in the lives of young people in Bradford, especially those who were disadvantaged, and at that time had seemed to have become just another negative statistic waiting to happen. We spent a day each week developing our ideas for a year. We shared those hopes and ambitions with others as we started to build a team to gear up for our first project – 7 young people attended our very first session.
All these years later on that journey, it brings great joy to read this bumper edition, full of stories, as we celebrate the positive experiences, efforts and achievements of many wonderful young people that we have the privilege of working with across our District. And celebrate the efforts and generosity of those who partner with us to support our work.
Our magazine obviously celebrates all that is and who are ‘One In A Million’. There is lots of great work taking place across all sectors by many organisations here in the Bradford District, and with much more collaborative thinking. Many I meet are more optimistic about the future of Bradford than at any other time I can remember. However, we all know there is still much to do and to be achieved by all of us if we are to continue to turn that optimism into reality. We have to keep going!
In trying to play our part here at One In A Million, there is a niggling about how we make sure we maintain and even increase our efforts. On this, I draw peace and strength from scripture, which says “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people”. With this encouragement, I look forward to the next part of our journey and what we all could be reflecting on and celebrating as a District by the end of this decade.
