4. It takes a community

Welcome to the home of One In A Million where everyone is valued and unique.

We are a Bradford based charity that engages with predominantly disadvantaged children and young people, through Sports, Arts and Enterprise. Our Hub and Spoke model enables us to use formal and informal education as a delivery mechanism to break the cycles of deprivation over their young lives; valuing and celebrating their uniqueness; and letting them know they are ‘one in a million’.

Our passion is to ensure that our children and young people are at the heart of all that we do. We constantly challenge ourselves to ensure that this sentiment is not just rhetoric, but is true all the time. We are driven by our 4 core values: compassion, honesty, integrity and excellence.

Having started our first community programme on Canterbury estate on 6th May 2006 with 5 volunteers and 7 children, OIAM community programmes have experienced significant growth. Through our Hub and Spoke model we are now delivering over 35 themed activities a week through the work of our 5 full time ‘community activators’, qualified coaches, and volunteers, within the 5 constituencies of Bradford; some of these locations appear within the top 1% in the national Index of Multiple Deprivation.
