PRESS RELEASE:

One In A Million Free School celebrates its “GOOD” Ofsted grading.

The Academy Trust, Governing Body & Staff of One In A Million Free School are celebrating a “GOOD” grading from Ofsted inspectors after an intense 16-month programme led by new Principal, Philip Grant. Mr Grant said: “We are thrilled that the inspectors agreed with our own self-evaluations and we were graded as ‘good’ across all 4 categories. The report gave positive affirmation to leadership and management, the progress students make and safeguarding as particular strengths”.

We are delighted with the overall judgement of “GOOD” and especially pleased with so many incredibly positive comments which included:

  • “The school provides opportunities and experiences that have transformed the lives of many young people at the school”.
  •  “The school has high expectations of pupils and actively encourages high aspirations from all pupils, regardless of background”.

The comments from the inspectors and the report reflect the huge journey the school has undertaken since our last inspection in July 2015. Academy Trust Member and Chair of Governors Mark Hughes said “We are extremely grateful for the incredible hard work and achievements of the entire school and would like to thank all governors, staff, students and parent/carers for their continued positivity and support.

Staff and students fully deserve to be recognised as a GOOD school with high standards. They took the opportunity during the inspection to shine and demonstrate the values and high levels of performance we expect at One In A Million Free School.

The inspectors made special mention of our strong community values within the school and the high expectations we demand from parents/carers and students. They were very impressed by Governors’ and the senior leaderships’ determination to maintain our aspirational vision and enhance the school’s role as an integral part of the community”.

Wayne Jacobs Co-Founder said, “One In A Million Charity started its first project in May 2006 and opened our Free School in September 2013, the journey so far has been an extremely rewarding one. We can see the positive transformation in the lives of the children and young people that we have the privilege of working with throughout our school and local community programmes. Ofsted’s recognition of a GOOD judgement is a positive validation of everyone’s efforts. We now press on to our goal of becoming outstanding”.
