One In A Million Free School were delighted to participate in the celebration of One Britain One Nation Day.
One Britain One Nation (OBON) is a campaign created and led by Kash Singh, an award winning, Bradford-based, retired West Yorkshire Police inspector.
Its purpose is to bring everyone together, not to focus on our differences but to celebrate the values we share: tolerance, kindness, pride, respect, and a tremendous desire to help others. It encourages children and young people to passionately love Britain and each other by showing unity and compassion to everyone.
OBON launched in 2015 with the blessing of then Prime Minister David Cameron after retired West Yorkshire Police inspector Kash Singh took his idea to 10 Downing Street.
Philip Grant, Principal of One In A Million Free School (OIAMFS) said: “OBON reflects the values of compassion, honesty, integrity and excellence, which are central values of our school. The ethos of OBON resonates deeply with us as a school and the OIAM wider charity”.
Mr Singh added: “I am so passionate about this campaign and feel we can really make changes by encouraging our children from an early age to be tolerant and caring and love the country they have been born in.
“Children are not born with hatred and distrust but they learn it from others. If we can all show them that it is better to love and trust, we will all be in a better place for them to grow up in and that will have a beneficial effect throughout all aspects of the city and the country.
“On June 23rd June 2017, I want to see schools turned red, white and blue”.
Despite today’s rainy weather, OIAMFS students from Year 8 and 9 participated in a rousingly passionate rendition of ‘God Save Our Queen’, along with dozens of other schools across the Bradford district.
OIAMFS is excited to play its part in supporting One Britain One Nation. We look forward to developing our partnership further in the build up to next year’s event.
We encourage all other schools, both locally and nationally to get behind this fantastic campaign!
