We are delighted to announce Ex Bradford City FC captain and defender Simon Ramsden has signed up for the One In A Million Celebrity Team that will take part in our annual 5-A-Side Tournament to be held at 5 A Live Indoor Soccer Centre on Friday 10th February.
In the summer of 2009, Ramsden signed for Bradford City after coming through the youth ranks at Sunderland and then spells with Notts County, Grimsby and Rochdale. He started off well for the Bantams in his first season making 32 appearances and scoring 2 goals. He was named as the club captain at the start of the 2010–11 campaign. After a serious injury he then went on to make a further 18 appearances including scoring a memorable penalty in the FA Cup victory against Sheffield United.
Life after Bradford City saw Ramsden join up with Stuart McCall’s Motherwell. His first taste of action was in a Champions League Qualifier against Panathinaikos. He made 68 appearances for Motherwell in both domestic and european leagues.
One In A Million Co-Founder Wayne Jacobs said “It’s fantastic news, Rammers is a great lad, he was a big favourite with the fans and players. Both on and off the field he understood what it meant to represent our football club and our City, he always gave everything, played with passion and desire, he set high standards for himself and others, hence he was handed the captaincy. I would like to thank him in advance for taking time out to play and for supporting our work with the children and young people of our city”.
The 5-A-Side tournament is limited to 15 teams in which there are only a few spaces still available.
Profits from the day will help One In A Million to raise vital funds to sustain our work amongst children and young people in some of our most deprived areas of Bradford.
