One In A Million (OIAM) is delighted to welcome recording artist and anti-bullying campaigner Asher Knight into the OIAM Corporate Partners family.
Asher is presently in the middle of a nationwide anti-bullying school tour in partnership with Barnardo’s.
On the 7th February 2018, he and his team made a special excursion to their busy itinerary to visit our school and perform for students; such is his passion for Bradford, his home city! With nearly 100,000 followers on social media, his anti-bullying message is powerful to everyone. It includes singing and performing his own music combined with personal stories of dealing with cyberbullying. The tour is helping to inform and inspire tens of thousands of young people that there ‘hope for everyone’!
Asher’s fabulous musical performances are supported by fellow singers Christie Alana (currently appearing as one of the ’The 100’ on BBC1’s ‘All Together Now’); Luena Martinez (who appeared in X Factor 2016 and currently appearing as one of the ’The 100’ on BBC1’s ‘All Together Now’); and singer/songwriter James CC.
After performing at two assemblies for our year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students – Asher, Alana, Luena and James invested further precious time with our students in the atrium where they signed autographs, posed for selfies, offered invaluable advice and encouraging words to individuals. Luena even joined in with students for a collaborative ‘rap-off’!
Students were enthused by the whole experience. The excitement was tangible and the anti-bullying message was well received.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Anna: “Asher Knight was amazing. I loved his voice! What he says about bullying is right”.
Brendan: “The message by Asher was insightful! The performances made everyone engage with the powerful presentation”.
Samia: “The performance was very enjoyable and Asher taught us a valuable lesson. STOP. SPEAK. SUPPORT“.
Mel: “I loved the enthusiasm and the confidence that Asher, Christie, Alana & James showed. It made me want to pursue a career in performing arts and showed me how I can use it to make a difference in people’s lives”.
McKenzie: “It was very good. I was nervous as to what was going to happen. However, it exceeded my expectation having someone come in and share their story with us.”
On behalf of everyone at One In A Million, we would like to say a huge thank you to Asher Knight and his inspiring team. We hope to welcome you back to our school in the near future. We wish you every success!
