It was their first project in Bradford. Based in London, the Speakers Trust’s mission is for every young person to be able to speak confidently about their experiences, beliefs and aspirations.
Directors Rob Lloyd-Jones and Katie Taylor spoke about their successes, and trainer Claudette Dawson demonstrated teaching techniques.
Seventeen secondary schools in Bradford have joined this initiative, with seven local schools represented at yesterday’s event including One In A Million Free School, Dixons Kings Academy, Beckfoot School, Feversham College, Carlton Bolling College, Appleton Academy and Bingley Grammar School.
This spring, thirty OIAMFS students will participate in workshops and school assemblies, with the winner competing at the regional showcase in June before a room full of guests including a judging panel, made up of local dignitaries.
All attendees were very impressed with our facilities and the building itself. Most importantly, everyone was intrigued by our “story” and the way that we passionately represent the Bradford district.
