STARS AWARDS 2016: An Inspirational Evening Had By All!

22nd October 2016. On Saturday 22nd October One In A Million celebrated 10 years of delivering community activities in our great City at our flagship Stars Awards event.

The event was hosted by radio presenter Derm Tanner and attended by 300 people from the world of sports, media and entertainment. Awards were presented to recognise the outstanding achievements of the children and young people that we work with and support. As well as the awards there were performances from Singer / Songwriter Lara Martin and Robbie Miller, who is a former award winner himself, entertained us with some well known songs and original tracks.

Awards winners and presenters were as follows:

One In A Million Sports Young Person of the Year (Sponsored by Craven Slater) went to Morgan Brigg and Morgan Cowling and was presented by Richard Slater, Director of Craven Slater and David Baldwin, Chief Executive of Burnley Football Club (pictured below).

One In A Million Arts Young Person of the Year (Sponsored by the Provident Good Neighbour Community Programme) went to Shannon Dalby and was presented by Cathy Prior, Provident Financial and Kersten England, Chief Executive of Bradford Council (pictured below).

One In A Million Alternative Education Young Person of the Year (Sponsored by the Business Enterprise Fund) went to Brodie Nash and was presented by Stephen Waud, Business Enterprise Fund and Tanya Arnold, BBC Sports Presenter and One In A Million Ambassador. (Pictured below).

One In A Million Free School Young Person of the Year (Sponsored by Bradford City Football Club) went to Danyal Hussain and was presented by James Mason, Chief Operation Officer of Bradford City FC and Stuart McCall, Bradford City FC Manager and One In A Million Ambassador. (Pictured below).

One In A Million Volunteer of the Year (Sponsored by Momentum Recruitment & Training went to Jid Rahman and was presented by Billy Bingham, Momentum Recruitment & Training and Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford Cllr Alun Griffiths. (Picture below).

The One In A MiIllion Award (Sponsored by Barclays Bank) went to Connor Griffin and was presented by Kathryn Harland, Barclays Bank and Her Majesty's Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, Major Stan Hardy. (Pictured below).

Each award winner received a glass engraved trophy and a £50 shopping voucher to spend in The Broadway Bradford shopping centre.

Co-Founder and Chief Executive of the Charity Wayne Jacobs said, “It was inspirational to see and hear the performances of our children and young people and also honour the achievements of our award winners. A wonderful way to celebrate our milestone of delivering community activities across the region over this past decade. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the evening and made this, our flagship event a night to remember”.
