Weather Update: Our school ‘building’ is closed on Friday (15th Jan). Remote learning remains in place.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers,

OUR SCHOOL ‘BUILDING’ IS NOW CLOSED ON FRIDAY 15th JANUARY 2021.

*** ZOOM LESSONS AND REMOTE LEARNING WILL CONTINUE ONLINE ***

Due to the continued snow throughout today, which continues to fall and has settled on the roads and streets across the city, OIAM Free School has taken the decision to remain closed for the remainder of this week. The temperature is forecast to be well below freezing point for at least the next 24 hours. The difficult access to the site when snow and significant ice are in place is a concern and does not meet our Health and Safety requirements.

It has become clear that, in addition to the ice and snow, due to accidents on the motorway and roads surrounding the school that staff and students will find it extremely difficult to travel in safely.

This was a very difficult decision to make as we are committed to supporting our keyworkers and previously identified groups. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this may cause everyone but your child’s safety is our top priority!

We are pleased to say that learning will continue as planned online through the Zoom lessons and remote tasks set on Class Charts.

We will keep all parents/carers up to date on when the school will next be open for keyworkers and previously identified groups via text message alert.

However, we expect to be as normal on Monday 18th January… weather permitting!

For all other external guests, we will provide additional updates through the One In A Million Facebook and Twitter pages. If you are not already following us – now might be a good time!

Kind Regards,
Mr Rees, Principal
