It is World Book Day on Thursday 1st March 2018.
As you are aware, here at One In A Million Free School we are passionate about driving up both the Literacy levels and love of reading for members of our school and the local community.
As part of our focus we always celebrate World Book Day and this year both the staff and Years 7 to 11 will be offered the opportunity to dress as one of their favourite literary characters.
Participation is in no way compulsory, however if students do not wish to take part then they must come to school in full school uniform on the day.
To raise money for the charity we would request that those students who do come in costume pay £1 by the end of Wednesday 28th February. Alternatively, they would pay £2 on the day, Thursday March 1st.
During the week commencing Monday February 26th we will run small competitions and a book quiz relating to all kinds of books and reading. We will also launch the Readathon, a sponsored read which we also completed last year to raise the profile of reading for pleasure whilst raising money for books for children in hospital. More information will follow regarding this, along with sponsorship forms.
Should you be stuck for ideas, please have a look at the World Book Day website:
Should you have any further questions, please contact your child’s form tutor via their planner as usual, unless urgent.
