A warm welcome from the Principal, Mr Rees
Being the Principal of One In A Million Free School is both a privilege and an honour and, as a proud Bradfordian, I feel fortunate to be part of what I believe is a school and community with a great deal to celebrate.
Students at One In A Million Free School are at the heart of everything we do and, as such, the OIAM team are passionate about delivering the highest quality education and creating a culture where children feel safe and can thrive in a happy learning environment. We believe that every child deserves to maximise their potential, regardless of their starting point, background or personal circumstances and we are extremely proud of our diverse and inclusive community.
The sense of family and community that is at the heart of our small school ensures every child is known and valued as an individual, whilst our connected curriculum, centred around the key themes of Sport, Arts and Enterprise, ensures that our students are stimulated to excel, no matter where their individual interests lie. This rigorous curriculum delivers not only the core competencies every student requires for their life beyond school, but also key life skills such as leadership, management and problem-solving needed to excel within the modern working world. We ensure that each student is valued and receives help and support in the areas they need, as well as the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of high quality enrichment activities.
Our aim as a school, is to develop students’ knowledge, skills and emotional intelligence so that they are best prepared for the wider world and life beyond OIAMFS. We want students to display a thirst for knowledge and develop a real love of learning, but we also want all of our pupils to make a positive contribution to their communities, playing a proactive and productive role in society. To this end we attach huge importance to developing the individual characteristics of our core values: Compassion, Honesty, Integrity and Excellence. These values provide the cohesion that unites our community and they reflect our aim to ensure that the student experience offered by OIAMFS is second to none, whilst also emphasising the importance of good character, making the right choices, and working together for success.
Here at One In A Million Free School we understand that collaboration can help maximise progress. Not only are we part of the wider One In A Million Charity, which is very well respected within the Bradford community, we also have a strong history and reputation for developing high quality relationships with both parents and learners. We draw upon our own expertise and extensive range of networks to empower our students to become caring, competent and responsible in their contribution to the community.
Our doors are always open, so please feel free to organise an informal meeting and tour of the school if you are interested in finding out more. I look forward to warmly welcoming you to One In A Million Free School.
Stuart Rees
