‘Words for Work’ teaches students the rich vocabulary and skills necessary for success.
OIAMFS’s Year 9 students are taking part in an exciting series of workshops generously sponsored by Provident Financial (OIAM Community Partner) and the National Literacy Trust.
With the help of five volunteers who share their experiences and guide students through the interview process, “Words for Work” teaches students the rich vocabulary and skills necessary for success in their next destination and future endeavours.
One year 9 student said, “Because of Words for Work I’ve gained the confidence to speak to new people”.
Whilst another student has been inspired to “get out of my comfort zone and experience new things.”
Another student said that, “the volunteers gave me good advice to use in the future. I’ll be sure to stick with it”, and “Words for Work is a One In A Million experience!”
We, at OIAMFS, appreciate the effort and commitment made by all involved, and would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers, Provident Financial and the National Literacy Trust for their invaluable contribution to our students and our school.
The project runs for a total of six lessons over the course of 5 weeks with approximately 75 students benefiting from the programme.
