WOW! Exploring the Working World of Fortem People!!

On Tuesday 18th Feb, during the half-term holidays, 21 young people from our Windhill, Manningham, and Keighley centres embarked on a World of Work adventure to Fortem People.

Set in the beautiful countryside of Skipton, Fortem People's offices, it was an inspirational setting for a day of fun and informative activities.

Chelsea: “I want to work in the countryside now and own a farm”.

We started the day with a game of 'SNAP,' matching job descriptions with jobs.

We then discussed personality types, relating them to animals, and explored how these characteristics might suit certain job roles.

Ellie: "I feel like I'm a lion because I'm a leader, and less like a bee because I'm not organised”.

Shianne: “This is helpful as I've just picked my GCSE options!".

Ishaaq: “Personality types are important in the world of work to show people's work qualities”.

After a morning of great discussion, we were treated to lunch! The young people were so excited to choose from a delicious menu from the gourmet food van!

To round off the day, after lunch, we enjoyed a treasure hunt- exploring the surrounding farm and finding key words / characteristics that make a good employee!

Fuschia: "I've learned to get a job you just have to have a good attitude, and you don't have to be really brainy”.

Jacob: "Today I've learned open-ended questions”.

"You can be whatever you want to be, don't let people judge you or tear you down."- Kyra

We'd like to say a HUGE thank you to Rachel, Jane, and the whole Fortem People team. The young people had a wonderfully engaging and educational day. Thank you for your warm welcome and brilliant hosting our visit has made a big and lasting impression on our youngsters!
