HONOURING A OIAM LEGEND!

This year we bid a fond farewell to long-serving OIAM employee, Rob Carr. Rob has been working/volunteering for OIAM for over 17 years, diligently serving the children and families of Canterbury.

We take this opportunity to honour Rob as he steps down from the post to focus on his growing family. Click the link below to read more of his incredible journey…

STREETWISE: NO KNIVES, BETTER LIVES

Streetwise kicks off with a bang! Partnering with West Yorkshire Police, our theme this term has been ‘No Knives, Better Lives,’ educating our young people about knife carrying/crime.

“The Streetwise Football project exemplifies how sports can be a powerful tool for positive social change, encouraging dialogue, understanding, and collaboration between law enforcement and the communities they serve." - PC HUSS, WEST YORKSHIRE POLICE

KIDZ & YOUTH CLUB GET THE GREEN LIGHT: ROAD SAFETY WEEK

In November, our Kidz & Youth Club in Windhill took part in National Road Safety Week.

The younger children in Kidz Club enjoyed colouring road safety posters and learning about how to cross roads safely. Later in the week, we played ‘Road Safety Heroes,’ a game where you must match the hero with their description. We learned that everyone can be a road safety hero!

In Youth Club, we took part in a road safety quiz, and some of the answers were very surprising! We also played card games, matching the correct UK Crossing with the right description.

YOUNG ARTISTS DISPLAY THEIR WORK AT LOCAL EXHIBIT!

Over several weeks, the children and young people in our Keighley Hub enjoyed Art Taster sessions with Keighley Creative.

Their creative pieces were then displayed at Keighley Creative’s Art Exhibit, open to the public!

We were delighted to attend the exhibit’s opening with 10 of our children- a joyous celebration with food and guests. A very special memory for our children and young people who were really proud of their work.

Special thanks to Laura & Nicola of Keighley Creative for including OIAM; for your dedication, coaching, and care.

HALF-TERM: A WEEK IN THE LIFE

We had an action-packed half-term holiday in October, with new experiences and excursions every day!

It’s amazing to see the confidence grow in our youngsters as they tackle new challenges and have fun learning new skills.

Cook & Eat Development: Guest Chefs and all the Press!

This term in our Cook & Eat development centre, we enjoyed visits from guest chef, Nazrul Islam, who taught us the art of cooking authentic curry!

The children from our Multi-Media Development Centre were on hand to capture every moment.

A fantastic collaboration that brought tangible excitement, and tignling tastebuds!

With special thanks to chef Nazrul and team, MAK Digital, and BEAP Community Partnership.
