One In A Million Stars Awards 2018 School Young Person of the Year is Mel McMahon
19th October 2018. One In A Million Free School Young Person of the Year 2018 (Sponsored by Bermar Building Ltd) is Mel McMahon. The award was presented by Rob Moon, Managing Director of Bermar Building Ltd and The Lord Mayor of Bradford Cllr Zafar Ali.
Enjoy reading the testimonial from Mel’s video tribute from the evening:
Compassion. Honesty. Integrity. Excellence.
Mel has consistently embodied each and every one of One In A Million’s core values; compassion, honesty, integrity & excellence; since the time she started at our school in 2014.
Mel is an accomplished musician and performer. She has represented the school in performances at three previous OIAM Stars Awards ceremonies; in a citywide musical collaboration at Bradford Cathedral and in prominent school events like the Speakers Trust. This year, Mel has been awarded a scholarship to the Pauline Quirke Drama Academy. An impressive collection of achievements, I am sure you would agree.
Mel is a compassionate friend, who always has time to listen and care for those around her; she shares her cheery and positive personality with all of the OIAM family on a daily basis, in an open and honest manner. Members of staff always find a welcoming smile and a helpful disposition when Mel is around.
Her creative abilities do not stop at music. She has always loved creative writing and poetry. Whilst she does not study Art for a GCSE option, her talents also spread to this area where she is innovative and imaginative in her approach. Mel has had work published in a collection of writing from students at the school.
OIAMFS Principal, Mr Grant said, “Mel, we celebrate your hardwork and dedication to always better yourself. Your resilience and integrity will pay dividends in your future endeavours. Well done, continue to shine brightly with every opportunity that comes your way”.
Mel, you are... ‘one in a million’.
