World of Work: A Vanquis Adventure

Our Introduction to the World of Work trips continue with another fantastic trip to Vanquis Banking Group in May half-term.

A small group of young people from Keighley travelled into Bradford city centre for an encouraging day exploring all the different roles needed to make running a big office/ company run smoothly.

This included a peak into the workings of the Security Team, and an inspiring chat with Becky and Cathy, who shared their career journeys.

Here's what some of the young people had to say about their day:

“I’ve had such a good day, listening to the security guard, and learning how to stay safe in an emergency, it was also so good to get on the train from Keighley to Bradford and back, it felt like a day at work with my lanyard on, I felt important.” - Ruby

"I liked seeing how things work inside a place like Vanquis, and how people there had worked there way up into some management roles starting from the bottom, that was inspiring for me.” - Kyle

We'd like to say a big thank you to Becky, Cathy, and all at Vanquis for another brilliant World of Work day!

“With some of our young people/ young adults in a transitional period of their lives, and with exams and important decisions to make about their future, a world of workday is invaluable. Not only because they bridge the gap between education and work, but also because they give an early insight into what a day at work might look like. Listening to real life testimonies is an inspiration, one that can lead to them chasing their own dreams or breaking down with fear & anxiety about having a job. This gives our youngsters a chance to break down those barriers.”  David, OIAM Keighley Community Activity
