11 young people from our Keighley hub enjoyed a busy day during February half-term. Expertly led by fantastic Emerald employees, our youngsters were split into teams to try their hand at the publishing process.

Activities included;

• Coming up with a concept for a book
• Creating a cover design
• Exploring online marketing
• Learning about sales
• A visit from Emerald's tax specialist!

Dave Wilson, OIAM Community Activator, Keighley: “A massive thank you to the team at Emerald. Firstly Danielle for making the young people feel welcome on arrival and for coordinating a well thoughtout bespoke day for the young people. Secondly, for the team who made the experience special, drawing alongside the young people in a genuine and positive way, this was brilliant to see, and confidence within the group grew as the day went on. As someone who works with these young people on a weekly basis, the engagment levels were outstanding. They couldn't stop talking about it on the train back to Bradford”.

Shariq Mumtaz, Emerald Publishing, Chief Commercial Officer: “I know this is a two-way initiative, and of course it’s great for the kids, but I also think it’s a really good bonding experience for the Emerald volunteers - almost more so than internal events because it doesn't feel work-related so allows people to come together in a different way”.
